Excellent Spirit International School is a small inclusive school in Ashaley Botwe, Accra. We teach children from one year old to Year 9, and we are built around a single conviction: that diverse minds flourish together.
That is not a slogan we added later. The school was designed for it. Most of our teachers hold a BEd in Early Childhood, Basic Education or Special Education, so the expertise is in the classroom rather than brought in for a few children. Our classes are deliberately small, and a child who learns differently is not an exception here to be accommodated. They are who we built the school for.
Every member of staff is vetted before they start: identity, qualifications, references and police criminal clearance from the Ghana Police Service. Nobody works unsupervised with children until that is complete.

Every child learns best when they feel safe, seen and excited. Our curriculum blends structured learning with joyful play, and our classrooms are places where a child can share an idea without fear.
Our name comes from the book of Daniel, where it is said of Daniel that an excellent spirit was in him. We take that to mean something ordinary and demanding at once: that excellence shows itself in the detail of daily work, in how a child is greeted in the morning as much as in what they achieve by July.
The school has a Christian foundation and our staff begin each day together in devotion before the children arrive. Families of all faiths and none are welcome here, and no child is required to hold any particular belief. We say this openly at admission because we would rather a family chose us knowing exactly who we are.
We cap the size of every class so that each child is known. A school of this size cannot be all things to every family, and we do not pretend otherwise. What it can be is a place where no child is anonymous.
